Issues with gritting, contact your County Councillor

Lancashire County Council (LCC) is responsible for gritting the roads of Lancashire, including Skelmersdale.

They have a “priority route” which pretty much is the MAIN roads in Skem. (Highlighting in green on the maps, I’ve uploaded). They have “secondary routes” which are highlighted in pink.

You will see that most estates are not on the schedule, so that’s why most people will think the roads aren’t being gritted.

LCC has no intention of gritting the estates and suggest that residents either use the grit bin provided, request a bin if one isn’t present (there’s criteria to be accepted), or that residents grit their estates themselves with grit they buy themselves.
This is not a WLBC issue so having pops at WLBC for gritting issues isn’t the right thing to do.

If you see gritting lorries driving from one area to another and no grit coming out, it’s probably because they are going from one priority road to another and aren’t supposed to be gritting.
