Stannanought Road litter is a DISGRACE!

Open question to our councillors here (I’m not complaining at WLBC, I know it’s Highways / Health & Safety that are making this difficult).

Stannanought Road is one of the main roads in Skelmersdale and it’s covered in litter.

WLBC Clean & Green struggle to litter pick it due to the road being over 50mph and Highways not wanting people on the verges.

My question is….It paints Skelmersdale in a very poor light, is there anything that can be done to stop the continual build up? Can we apply additional pressure on Highways to make it easier to litter pick?

As a volunteer group we are respecting the rules by not litter picking the road, we’d love to but understand health & safety won’t allow for it.

I’m blaming the scruffy gits that keep slinging stuff out of their car / van / lorry windows, not having a direct pop at the council.

It just disheartens me, and so many others, when we see this significant road continually covered in litter.

Any feedback, additional pressure or an update on if this is being looked at, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance 🙂
