I’ve removed a Waste Removal company from the Skem First group today, JC Group Services Ltd after discovering they were fined for Fly-tipping in October.
The sad thing is that they DO have a waste carriers license but still fly-tip anyway because they charge a low amount and then can’t afford to dispose of it properly!
I’ve just asked another company to see a license, if they can’t produce one, they’ll be removed from the group too. The company name they gave is registered in Ashford, Kent.
As someone that has spent 100s of hours removing MANY MANY tons of fly-tipping from our parks, public spaces & heritage sites, I will be absolutely crystal clear that there is a ZERO TOLERANCE policy to waste removal companies posting here without full checks.
A quick call to the council about one of the services raised a massive red flag.
I genuinely want to see better provisions for removal of waste and will be asking the council to address this.
The bulky waste collection service is GREAT if you can actually get stuff to the front of your house. Because so many people are either too old, too sick or too frail to do that it makes it easy for dodgy companies to swoop in.
There surely has to be a sensible solution that can work for the people that need it most.
I hope the council and our councillors can figure it out to make the bulky collection service suitable for ALL residents of Skelmersdale.
