50 New Council Houses To Be Built On The Old Fairlie Sports Field

An application has gone in, from Tawd Valley Developments, for the building of 50 council houses on the old Fairlie playing fields.

Included in the plans are 8 x council owned bungalows which I know will be a welcome addition to the ward as many elderly residents / residents with mobility issues have requested bungalows to be built in Ashurst.

There are plenty of ground floor flats currently available in Ashurst but some residents would prefer not to have people crashing around upstairs.

The site plan includes 12 x 1 bed apartments, 8 x bungalows, 22 x 2 bed houses and 8 x 3 bed houses. ALL 50 dwellings will be handed to WLBC to add to their council housing stock.

Sports England have raised a concern that this site is a former playing field and it will lead to a loss of provisions for sporting activity although West Lancs argue that the fields have been out of use for more than 5 years.
